Is this really how close we are?

By Frank M. Keele

Given our current situation where the present administration is breathing out threats against law abiding, freedom loving folks. Folks who don’t happen to share their political views and going so far as to accuse them of being terrorist just because they voted for the other side in the last election or question the legitimacy of the same… have we arrived at the point where liberty, freedom and constitutional principles are hanging in the balance?

And have we reached the point that Ezra Taft Benson described when he said:

“But on the other hand, if the gentiles on this land reject the word of God and conspire to overthrow liberty and the Constitution, then their doom is fixed, and they “. . . shall be cut off from among my people who are of the covenant”. (1 Nephi 14:6; 3 Nephi 21:11, 14, 21; D&C 84:114-115, 117)

Personally, I think it’s pretty much indisputable that the wicked gentiles have met the conditions outlined above and if that be the case… their doom is about to unfold… they are about to be “cut off from among my people who are of the covenant”. Elder Benson went on to say:

“The great destructive force which was to be turned loose on the earth and which the prophets for centuries have been calling the “abomination of desolation” is vividly described by those who saw it in vision. Ours is the first generation to realize how literally these prophecies can be fulfilled now that God, through science, has unlocked the secret to thermonuclear reaction.” (Oct. general conference, 1961)

Now, unless we are willing to throw Elder Benson and the scriptural references he sites under the bus, we must conclude that we are standing at a major crossroad! And we need to accept and prepare for what is just ahead, after all, “time is running out”, right? We go to JS Matthew and read:

32 And again shall the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, be fulfilled.

33 And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be shaken…

36 And, as I said before, after the tribulation of those days, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken, then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn; and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory;

So, here is the crux of the whole matter… if we are about to see the abomination of desolation on the gentiles unfold, it follows that we are also about to see the sun darkened, the moon not giving her light, the stars falling form heaven and the powers of heaven shaken, right?

And most significantly, we are about to see “the sign of the Son of Man in heaven, and… the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory” because these events are to unfold “immediately after the tribulation of those days”, abomination of desolation that is!

Now, there are many scriptural passages that could be cited in order to back up or reinforce the point of today’s post but I’m not going to do that because current events pared with the citations give are more than adequate… and the stark reality of this post just might awaken some readers… let the spirit be your guide…
